RADAR's Accomplishments 2007 – I-VAWA: Exporting Family Break-Up

RADAR organized a campaign from January 15 – February 23, 2007 designed to educate the public and lawmakers about the flaws of the International Violence Against Women Act, which Sen. Joseph Biden is expected to introduce. An estimated 600,000 persons were reached during the campaign.

During the course of the campaign, RADAR released two Special Reports:

  1. Has VAWA Delivered on its Promises to Women?
  2. A Culture of False Allegations: How VAWA Harms Families and Children
Five press releases and Alerts were issued, which resulted in three interviews:
  1. Capitol Weekly - "Battered Men Seek Equal Protection," published January 25
  2. WJR radio, Detroit - February 19 - estimated 150,000 listeners
  3. Congressional Quarterly

Numerous visits were also made to staff on Capitol Hill.
